June 19th Meeting: “Beyond Home Waters” with Paul Tsai

Please join us for an evening with local blue-water sailor and author Paul Tsai, as he shares his experiences leaping beyond our familiar home waters to explore two of the world’s most distinct cruising grounds: the Caribbean and Japan. While every member of the PSCC knows the magic of navigating the Pacific Northwest, Paul’s offshore journeys took him to two vastly different extremes of the sailing world.

He will take us through the classic, trade-wind-driven island hopping of the tropical Caribbean before shifting gears to the rugged, current-swept coastlines of East Asia. Cruising Japan is an entirely different kind of voyage—one where pristine anchorages are traded for industrial fishing ports, boats are tied directly to concrete seawalls using traditional mooring techniques, and landfalls open the door to centuries of hidden history, an UNESCO World Heritage site.

Whether you are dreaming of a straightforward tropical escape or looking to get completely off the beaten path in the Western Pacific, come hear practical insights on blue-water logistics, cultural adaptation, and the incredible rewards of truly foreign landfalls.

Please join us at 6:30 the Puget Sound Yacht Club – Yes the presentation starts at 7PM!

  • When: Friday, June 19th, 2026 at 6:30pm PDT.

Also, at 5:00 pm before meetings, some PSCC members typically get together at Ivar’s Salmon House for happy hour dinner. The more people that come, the merrier, and the more tables we push together. Look for us towards the windows in the bar section. Ivar’s is ½ mile NE of the yacht club on the same street and has parking lots.
