Alternating between travelogues and tech talks, for our April meeting we have Rachel Wold from Nanoos presenting info from real world UW and NOAA research. Rachel Wold from the UW will demonstrate their free online routing and trip planning tool, the NVS Boaters App. The NANOOS Visualization System (NVS) uses real-time observations and weather forecasts, plus tides and current data to help mariners plan a safe and efficient trip.
NVS Boaters App was created by the Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS), and was designed to access and utilize the broadest set of ocean data, tools, products, and knowledge. Rachel will provide an overview of the project, as well as demonstrate how to use the NVS Boaters App to plan a trip, how view potential routes, as well as how to get in-route updates so you can take the safest, most efficient path forward. It’s worth digging into while you have good internet.
